Welcome to the Blog! Thanks for stopping by...please check back often for updates on recent shoots and photo adventures in the Reno/Tahoe area! =) Fighting PrettyOn Monday, I saw this post from one of my friends on Facebook: "It's October - Breast Cancer awareness month... What are you doing to create awareness?" On Monday, I was doing nothing to create awareness, but today I have a plan! So my friend Kara, who posted that, is a breast cancer surviver. She was diagnosed at age 26! After surgery, chemo and radiation (and a clean bill of health!) she started a non-profit called Fighting Pretty. The mission of Fighting pretty is this: "To help women feel beautiful, sexy, confident and find inner strength during and after cancer treatments."
Her organization sends out "Pretty Packages" to women who are battling cancer to help women feel beautiful even while undergoing treatments. If you know someone who is currently fighting cancer, you can fill out the form on their website and request a "Pretty Package" to be sent to them. They ship the packages all over the country! I had one sent to a friend recently, and she was so excited to receive it. She told me that it came at just the right time and blessed her so much! I know there are a lot of non-profits out there, especially ones dealing with cancer. I also know that there is a lot of info out there about breast cancer. Most people know October is breast cancer awareness month. Most people know about the American Cancer Society, The Race for the Cure, Relay for Life, The Avon Run. These are all great organizations, don't get me wrong. But Fighting Pretty is a great organization too....however I'm betting most people don't know about it! I believe that Kara has started a good thing with Fighting Pretty, and I stand by her 100%. So here is my plan..... First: Please share this blog post everywhere! Facebook, Twitter, email it to friends and family. Let's get the word out there that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that Fighting Pretty is ready to help women you know fighting cancer! Second: Please consider making a donation to Fighting Pretty. You can do so right through their website and also their Facebook page. You can also attend one of their fundraising events if you live in the NY area. Third: If you make a donation to Fighting Pretty during the month of October, email me proof of your donation and you'll be entered into a contest to win some cool photo related prizes! You have all month to make your donation and email me. Winners will be selected on November 1st! I am counting on everyone to get the word out there about Fighting Pretty! Thanks! Paige =) PS....Like my Facebook page to stay up to date on what I'm doing! The McCormack FamilyMeet the McCormack Family! Portland and SeattleLast month I told you I was about to leave town to do a job in Portland and Seattle.....it was a super fun business trip! Basically I had to visit 20 top attractions in both cities and take photos of them. It was for a GPS company so they just needed photos of the outside of the places. So as you can imagine there were many places I just jumped out of the car quick to grab a few shots and then we were on our way. My husband came along and he was said he felt like we were on the Amazing Race! I'll share some highlights of the trip with you now. I have many more photos that I took just for my personal collection but that will be another blog post when I finish editing them! Oregon Capital in Salem
And onto Seattle! Museum of Flight
The original Starbucks....it was so tiny!
